Laser Hair Removal & PFB

  • Do I need to shave before the procedure?

Yes. You should shave 1-3 days before the procedure, leaving small 2 to 3mm stubs of hair, but no longer. The hair cannot be waxed or plucked. It must be in in tact within the follicle so that efficacy is not compromised.

  • How many treatments are required?

This can vary depending on skin and hair color, but generally 4-6 sessions are required for approximately 80% clearance or greater. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended.

  • How often will I need treatments?

For Hair Removal, it is recommended that one treatment be completed every 4-8 weeks depending on the area being treated.

For PFB(Pseudofolliculitis Barbae- Ingrowns/Razor Bumps), it is recommended that one treatment be completed every 2-3 weeks. (Please note- hair in the area will thin out over time.)

  • Will I need to use numbing cream or cooling gels?

No! Anesthetics and cooling gels are not needed because the Aerolase Neo Elite® is uniquely pain-free. However, a tolerable sensation of heat can be experienced. This applies to all skin types. The only exception to this fact, is if the hair is not freshly shaven and longer than 3mm, you may experience more discomfort.

  • Does this laser work on darker skin types?

The Neo Elite laser is the safest laser in the industry for dark skin types or tanned skin. This is because of the MicroPulse-1064 technology, which essentially eliminates treatment pain while minimizing the chances of hyper and/or hypopigmentation.

  • Does laser work on blonde or gray hair?

There is no light based hair removal technology which is efficient on blonde or gray hair because melanin is the primary target or chromophore in laser hair removal, so treatment efficacy is typically much lower if the hair is low in melanin(like gray or blonde hair).

  • How many treatments will I need?

After a complete set of 6 treatments, typically once a month, you can expect to see the results continue for the next 6 months due to the continual growth of new collagen and elastin. After which you can start treatments again.

  • When should I expect to see results?

You may notice a glow or tightening sensation immediately after the first treatment. Some may also notice a reduction in pore size a few weeks after the first treatment.
